Where and What to Eat in Cameron Highlands

Even though it’s not as glitzy and glamorous as Genting Highlands – Malaysia’s most popular highland destination – Cameron Highlands is popular due to its salubrious and cool mountain-top location. There are plenty of restaurants here that mostly cater to local palates and despite an altitude of more than 1,300 metres, seafood eateries are surprisingly popular. Chinese restaurants are favoured by locals, particularly for their steamboat offerings, Indian restaurants that serve spicy, hearty rice and curries are plentiful and fine English fare at competitive prices can be had at the Lakehouse or Ye Old Smokehouse.

The general consensus is that the cuisine here is definitely up to par – make sure you stop by at one of the many steamboat venues sprinkled across Cameron Highlands’ landscape. When the sun goes down restaurants are especially busy since there's very little to do here come as regards nightlife; most of these restaurants are located in Tanah Rata and Brinchang.
