Where to Eat in Jalan P Ramlee

Strategically located just around the corner from the city’s major landmark attractions, Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC, Jalan P Ramlee is known just as much for its good dining options as the colourful nightspots that can be found along it. Plenty of international flavours grace Jalan P Ramlee, from Asian delights to Western cuisine.

Cedar on 15

The rooftop Cedar on 15 restaurant hasn’t caused many waves on Kuala Lumpur’s foodie scene and it is a mystery as to why it hasn’t. Its attractions are plentiful: it has a fantastic location on the 15th floor of Impiana KLCC Hotel (just opposite Suria KLCC), food is sumptuous and not overpriced, the ambiance refined and relaxed, and the interior design posh, with attention to detail evident. Emporium Grand Cafe

About one km from Suria KLCC, along a labyrinth of streets beside Fraser Place, is the over-the-top Emporium Grand Cafe and Lounge. A surprising find in central Kuala Lumpur, this lavish restaurant and bar resembles a secret gentleman’s club. Head through its small set of wooden doors and you are greeted with a scene full of Victorian splendour – think elaborate chandeliers, ornate gold frieze work, velvet wallpaper, Persian rugs and plush furniture that set a thoroughly opulent scene. Melur and Thyme

There aren't many non-Chinese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur that serve duck. Actually, there are almost none, so when we heard a duck-specialty halal restaurant popping up in KLCC, our interest was piqued. Melur and Thyme is a rebranded restaurant, formerly known as Duck & Such, and while duck is still the main ingredient on the menu, there are also non-duck dishes for those who aren’t inclined that way. Nyonya Colours

Nyonya Colours is a restaurant that impresses us time and time again. Easily found in malls all around the city, this chain eatery’s simple yet pleasing design scheme (dark wood stools with hand-painted flower motifs, marble-topped tables and hardwood floors) is just one of its many highlights. The fact that food served is consistently great tasting only adds to its appeal – specialising in local favourites, it has a comfortingly ‘homemade’ taste to it. We love its reasonable prices – a plate of nasi lemak with rendang chicken is only RM9.80, while sweet savouries go for as low as RM0.80. Head here if you would like to sample local food in air-conditioned comfort and if you are keen on keeping a firm hold on those purse strings while doing so.

Opening Hours: 10:00 – 22:00
Address: K21, Level 2, Suria KLCC (and multiple locations around the city)

Passion Road Secret Garden

Passion Road Secret Garden restaurant along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng in Kuala Lumpur is a pretty quirky, lifestyle café that has caught the attention of locals for its stunning surrounds. Housed in a beautifully-preserved colonial heritage mansion, its setting is reminiscent of The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, with dense greenery of gorgeous flowering plants that encompass the venue. It is a favourite wedding function site, with an indoor and outdoor seating space, but also serves as a weekday lunch option.

Just a ten-minute walk from the PETRONAS Twin Towers, Passion Road Secret Garden is open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 to 18:00. Though menu prices are almost-unbelievably reasonable, the kitchen does not compromise on the quality of lunch offerings. The menu changes every day and there are only two options, the RM10 or RM15 set meal; whichever you choose, the food is - without a doubt - sure to be tasty.

Opening Hours:
Monday to Saturday only
(Closed on Sun and public holidays)

Troika Sky Dining

Troika Sky Dining can be described in one word - impressive. Kuala Lumpur locals are becoming spoilt for choice when it comes to fine dining restaurants with a view, but this venue certainly stands out from the pack. Set in Tower B of The Troika along Persiaran KLCC, it comprises two dining venues and a bar: fusion-focused Cantaloupe, Italian bistro Strato and Claret wine bar.

Popular with young, trendy urbanites, from the outside The Troika blends in with the rest of the city’s industrial skyline, looking like just any other concrete, steel and glass structure. However, inside each of the building’s dining and drinking venues is an entirely different experience with low-key yet stylish design schemes that allow the views to take centre stage. Read More...
