Children just adore nature and the opportunities to learn about the environment. Bring them to the National Zoo which will fascinate them with its display of local and exotic animals. On the other hand, the Butterfly Park is a nice place in Lake Gardens to see some amazing insects. Then there's the new Aquaria KLCC near Ampang which houses an array of marine creatures and some reptiles.

On the other hand, you might want to stimulate their minds on the science of how things work and astronomy in places like the National Planetarium, where they can interact with exhibits that teach about planets and space. The National Science Centre is another great place to learn about biology, chemistry and physics. Finally, there's the Petrosains centre which is dedicated to imparting knowledge on the industry of petroleum.

Theme Parks

The Klang Valley has a host of attractive theme parks that will ensure your children enjoy their stay in Kuala Lumpur. The Sunway Lagoon Theme Park in Petaling Jaya is probably the most famous, with three different themes including a water park, a Wild Wild West park and an African zone. Another popular one is the Wet Wet World in Shah Alam, another water park and the Mines Wonderland, which is a carnival-like park with a snow house.

Outside Kuala Lumpur, you will find the Genting Highlands Theme Park to be refreshing escape to the mountains. The park has all the usual trimmings of a children's play park with roller coasters, fast-flowing rides and simulators.

Another highland alternative is the Berjaya Hills which brims with international attractions. Finally, if you want to do shopping while leaving your kids occupied, bring them to the Cosmo's Theme Park in Berjaya Times Square, Malaysia's first indoor theme park with rides and games to keep them entertained.
