Lively burger joints such as MyBurgerLab (Sea Park, Petaling Jaya) and Burger Junkyard (Kota Damansara) prove immensely popular among KL’s urban youths, and Burgertory in Subang Jaya is no exception to the rule. Located on the first floor (above Guardian Pharmacy), Burgertory offers a wide array of delightfully sinful pork, beef and vegetarian burgers – all of which are handmade of course.
Picking a favourite from Burgertory's menu is a bit of a daunting task, but the Swine Bacon and Cheese burger has to be one of the must-tries. The thick 100% premium pork patty is close to perfection in terms of juiciness and taste, whilst the two strips of bacon and slice melted of cheddar cheese intensify both the flavour and the calorie count. Located just outside Empire Shopping Gallery, Jibby & Co is a two-storey establishment with a very distinctive architectural design, with its exterior strongly resembles that of a greenhouse. Entering this restaurant, diners are greeted with light bulbs hanging from the high ceiling, colourful potted plants on communal tables and massive glass windows providing plenty of natural light.
Perfect for weekend brunches with the family, we recommend Chic Breakie, a flavourful dish which consists of poached eggs, crispy hash browns, smoked salmon, salmon roe, corn, zucchini and hollandaise sauce. Diners with a bigger appetite will revel in the Three Layer Lasagna, a hefty portion of beef, mushroom, Roma tomatoes, and basil sauce. Lastly, the creamy yet refreshing Banoffee Pie shake makes for a great thirst quencher. Read More...

Originated from Singapore, Fat Boy’s Burger Bar is well known for its quirky and inventive burger combos that are massive in portions and tantalising in taste. One of the most popular choices is the Bleu Peppercorn, a juicy beef patty encrusted in black pepper, topped with crispy onion rings and homemade blue cheese dressing, all sandwiched between two fluffy sesame seed buns.
With two more outlets in KL - Avenue K and Publika, Fat Boy’s Burger Bar also allows diners to create their own burger. Firstly, they are offered a choice of white sesame, whole wheat or honey oat bun, followed by chicken, beef or pork patty and a wide variety of add-ons, ranging from bacon and guacamole to sautéed shitake mushrooms and grilled bananas. Lastly, diners can complete their burger creation with a dizzying array of sauces such as wasabi mayonnaise to peanut butter.

Serving luxury hotel-worthy Western dishes at affordable prices, FIQ's Gastronomy definitely lives up to its acronym: Food, Innovation, and Quality. There are ample parking spaces in the restaurant’s vicinity while its casual decor of wooden chairs, tables and colourful throw pillows exudes a cosy and tranquil ambience.
Expertly prepared in an open kitchen area, FIQ's Gastronomy serves tantalising dishes such as spinach risotto with sous vide chicken, roasted potato gnocchi with mushrooms, and five-hour braised short ribs. The pastas are also made on-site, and we recommend the tagliatelle with duck confit, basil-laced melted butter and vegetables for its exceptional taste and picture-perfect presentation. FIQ’s Gastronomy also offers extensive dessert choices such as baked Alaska, raspberry granite, and pumpkin bread pudding. Our best pick, though, is S'mores (RM10+), a concoction of chewy marshmallows, crackers, hazelnuts & gooey chocolate ganache.
5Master Room, One City Subang Skypark0

Located on the 10th floor of One City shopping centre, Master Room is a family-friendly sports bar that serves unique fusion dishes in a tranquil setting. It is divided into two sections: an outdoor patio that is decorated with leafy plants with a panoramic view of the Subang city skyline, whilst the second is an inner lounge area decked with high stools and tables next to an illuminated bar and rows of dart machines.
Offering a satisfying array of unique, fusion-style options, diners flock to this establishment for its signature entree, the Nasi Lemak Pai Tee. It’s made with all the ingredients one would expect to find in a plate of nasi lemak; boiled egg, anchovies, sambal, peanuts, cucumber slices and fragrant coconut milk infused rice are all stuffed inside a crunchy Nyonya pai tee cup. For mains, try the deep-fried breaded chicken lasagne sandwich, which consists of layers of chicken, ham, cheese, mayonnaise and egg, served with a side of fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

Logenhaus Roast & Grill has stood the test of time (not to mention stiff competition from trendy cafes and restaurants) for the past decade. This Western style diner has prompt and professional service and exudes a warm and cosy ambience thanks to its wooden interior, dim lighting and soothing jazz music.
Perfect for sharing, the Mix Sausages Platter consists of four massive German sausages, mashed potato salad and steamed vegetables. Logenhaus Roast & Grill‘s speciality is the grain fed sirloin steak with fresh mushroom sauce. The meat is perfectly tender in texture and is complemented with a thick and well spiced sauce.

Standing out amongst a horde of cafes and nocturnal hotspots in SS15 is the quaint Tryst Cafe. Amidst the artsy vintage decor and graffitied walls, diners can opt to sit on either the first level or go upstairs for the shisha pipes (flavoured tobacco).
Tryst Cafe’s speciality is its quality coffee imported from Costa Rica, Honduras, Brazil and Sumatra. A must-try is the cold drip coffee which makes the perfect companion for KL’s rather warm evenings. Food-wise, Tryst Cafe serves homemade pastas, sirloin steaks, grilled chicken and pancakes with unique ingredients such as longan fruit, beef balls and chilli corn carne.

As the catchy name suggests, The Hungry Hog is a non-halal establishment located in SS15, a favourite hangout spot for burger fanatics of all ages in Subang Jaya. Serving deliciously homemade fusion porcine dishes, diners can expect meaty meals such as The Full English (homemade Italian fennel sausages, sunny side up eggs, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, and toast) and Southern Belle burger (pulled pork in homemade barbeque sauce and purple cabbage slaw).
The Hungry Hog’s crowd favourite, however, is the 3 Little Pigs, a savoury burger with a healthy dose of cheese, a thick and juicy pork patty, caramelised onions, homemade ham, and bacon. With reasonable prices and a good range of feel-good food, The Hungry Hog offers a great choice for unapologetic pork fans. Read More...
9The Carpenter's Daughter0
- Opening Hours: Tuesday – Sunday 12:00 – 14:30 & 18:00 – 22:00
- Address: 71, Jalan SS15/4C, Subang Jaya
- Tel: +6012 225 0877
The Carpenter’s Daughter is bakery-cum-cafe that offers a wide array of organic breads, freshly baked cakes and pastries, with a sufficient Western menu. Ordering a plateful of bread is a common sight in The Carpenter’s Daughter, as it gives diners the chance to sample a good range of focaccia, ciabatta, batard, sourdough, whole wheat and seven-grain.
Completely organic with no additives or preservatives, the dough is hand shaped in small batches, while the longer fermentation time produces a more intense taste and texture. We also recommend complementing the bread platter with a side of shepherd’s pie or beef Bolognese (with homemade tomato sauce). For the early birds, The Carpenter's Daughter also offers a breakfast menu of Eggs Benedict, French toast, and omelette until 11:30.
10Grand Imperial - The 19 USJ City Mall0
- Opening Hours: Monday – Friday 08:30 – 21:30, Saturday & Sunday 08:30 – 22:00
- Address: 46G, Jalan USJ 10/1E, Taipan, Subang Jaya
- Tel: +603 8081 1218
Grand Imperial is a classy Chinese restaurant which serves quality dim sum (bite-sized dishes served in small steamer baskets) and Cantonese cuisine to a more upscale clientele. Located in The 19 USJ City Mall, this restaurant has a similar decor to its predecessors in Sri Hartamas and Bangsar. With its carpeted floors and cushioned seats, Grand Imperial really does do well to exude a luxurious ambience. Diners who prefer a more intimate setting can also opt for a separate dining room.
Some of our recommendations from their dim sum menu include siu mai (pork dumplings) with prawns, deep-fried bean curd skin roll, and the tantalising cha siu (barbecue-pork) bun. The crispy roast pork and fine wanton egg noodles (served with marbled US sirloin beef slices) are definite must-tries in Grand Imperial as well.
