Where to Stay in Bangsar
Editor's Guide to Recommended Hotels in Bangsar
Set approximately 15 minutes away from the main city centre, but still within the city limits, Bangsar is best known as Kuala Lumpur’s international village. This suburb of Kuala Lumpur caters to pockets of varying cultural and social echelons. Popular for its urban nightlife, it’s not as rowdy as KL but while the city centre sees more of a tourist and local Chinese crowd, Bangsar’s the haunt of expats, upscale yuppies, and KL’s well-to-do and college students. The area plays host to the Bangsar Shopping Centre and Bangsar Village shopping complex, but worth special mention is the smorgasbord of upscale eateries and frugally-priced friendly neighbourhood warungs or hawker centres. In a nutshell Bangsar’s appeal lies in its ability to cater to everyone. No matter the hour of the night you’re sure to come across trendy party animals as well as families out for a late night nasi lemak supper.
