Malaysia’s first restaurant in total darkness, Dining In The Dark is a unique experience that lets you discover food in a whole new way – without seeing it. A restaurant where sounds and smell come to life, all in all Dining In The Dark is a pretty surreal experience. Located above Ten on Changkat and The Whisky Bar (along Changkat Bukit Bintang road), besides shifting the focus from the décor of the restaurant to the food, it also forces us to pay closer attention to conversations both at our table and around us. Joining the ranks of Changkat Bukit Bintangn neighbourhood classics, El Cerdo KL forgoes flamboyant interior design for hearty, generously-portioned food. Its definitively porcine-centric menu selections are done well, whether it is slow cooked, roasted with crispy crackling, or sliced and served on a sandwich with a side of chips.
Ensuring just the right amount of fat and flesh, the kitchen does our favourite meat hearty justice, and though it might sound hard to do diners should save tummy space for decent revisions of classic desserts. Set lunches are priced at RM48, but considering the fact that portions are generous and can be shared between two, we think it is well worth it. Read More...

It serves hearty breakfasts, homemade desserts, not to mention quality and aromatic coffee in Jalan Mesui, Changkat Bukit Bintang. Adopting a minimalistic concept, the spacious cafe is beautifully decorated with mismatched furnishings, small potted plants, hanging light bulbs and wooden elements. Marvellously rich with a pleasantly lingering aftertaste, it’s a great drink to kick-start the day ahead. Perfect for weekend brunches, the Feeka omelette (RM16) is a tantalising combination of sautéed mushroom with herbs, sautéed cauliflower, tomato jam, and wild cheddar that complements the cheese-filled omelette very well.

A breakout Asian dining room, Lima Blas Nyonya Restaurant has an almost-clandestine location along Jalan Mesui in Changkat Bukit Bintang, which makes a meal here feel like a truly special experience. Serving Peranakan-inspired food, it could easily be mistaken for a true blue Malaccan antique shop house, with eclectic junk shop style interior design.
However, while it is all too easy to focus on the quirky décor, it is the stunning food which really does take centre stage. Distinctly sweet and rich in flavour, dishes are sometimes spicy, but never overpoweringly so, which makes it a great place to visit for foreigners who dislike chilli-infused food. Topping it all off to make this such a great restaurant to visit is the fact that with lunch sets priced at RM9.90, a meal here is certainly affordable, helping it to reach cult favourite status in the KL dining scene. Table 23 Kuala Lumpur
Table 23 Kuala Lumpur is a quaint bar and restaurant in Jalan Mesui, a modest yet vibrant alternative to the often overcrowded Changkat Bukit Bintang. The restaurant exudes a rustic theme with its exposed brick walls, unpolished wooden tables, hanging filament light bulbs, and a spacious al fresco dining area. Serving Asian cuisine by day and Western delicacies by night, Table 23’s must-try dish is its beef cheek served with bacon, potatoes parmentier, cherry tomatoes and zucchini. Perfectly tender yet full of flavour, it is a sinfully meaty dish that pairs well with a glass of wine.

Serving tantalising western and fusion delights, we highly recommend the braised wagyu beef burger (RM38) with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, pickles, rosemary crusted chips and gherkin aioli, wild mushroom risotto (RM34) with parmesan wafer, and pan fried salmon R(RM38) served on a potato croquette, tomato, asparagus and caper butter sauce.
