Waikiki Bar

A Petaling Jaya institution that has been around since the mid 90s’, Waikiki Bar is an al fresco Hawaiian-themed bar set above the PJ Palm Sports Centre (locals call it PJ Club). Its interior design is certainly eye-catching with a straw-thatched ‘roof’, Tiki-style bar with bamboo walls, rattan high chairs and fairy lights strung around the palm trees that surround the bar. Set on the second floor, the bar overlooks the club’s 50m swimming pool and the atmosphere is decidedly relaxed and enjoyable. Drawing in an older crowd, it can get pretty packed, especially during the weekends, with a rotating roster of live bands to entertain guests on a daily basis. Drinks-wise, do not expect anything too fancy here – think beers, gin and tonic, whiskey and coke: ladies, we recommend the Waikiki Breeze, a fruity, refreshing mix of vodka, blue Curacao and coconut milk.
