Publika is an upscale neighbourhood shopping mall located in Solaris Dutamas, Sri Hartamas, a sprawling up-and-coming residential development. Aimed at a young expatriate clientele, the creative and artsy complex has a number of high-end clothing boutiques, novelty stores and F&B venues.
It has a very modern look with steel and glass art pieces hanging from the ceiling, a skylight that lets in plenty of natural light, geometric, wire benches and small stores with high-quality merchandise. The mall also plays host to a variety of entertainment offerings such as art galleries (like Galeri Chandan and Segaris Art Centre on the fourth floor), a park, several spas (such as Hammam Spa on the fourth floor) and more.

Stores
The layout of the four-storey Publika is pretty simple and follows an H-shape: a lot of the ground floor boutiques are pretty small but sport plenty of colourful flair. Big name brands include MPH, B.I.G. Ben's Independent Grocer, ACE Hardware, British India and more.
Publika differs greatly from other strip malls because it is so uniquely designed. Though you will not find international brands here, the upscale local boutiques have more than enough to keep you occupied. The main entrance is flanked by the beautiful Journal by Plan B and Wondermilk plus there is a sprawling MPH bookstore right beside it.
There are not many pop-up stalls (and if truth be told there are a few empty store lots) but a visit to this complex will keep you occupied for an afternoon.
Restaurants in Publika Mall
Publika looks set to be the next gastronomic destination in KL. Similar to other shopping malls in the greater KL area, there is an al fresco dining and entertainment stretch called The Square, towards the back of the mall. Greatly resembling the open-style layout of Kirby Plaza in New York, there is a spacious, open courtyard with an artsy, covered pavilion in the centre, a massive fountain and restaurants and bars arranged around.
The mall is obviously designed for the young and yuppie crowd. Check out the ultra cool Plan B restaurant on the ground floor: it is one of Sri Hartamas’ most popular restaurants.
Journal by Plan B
If you feel like having dessert after your burgers at FatBoys The Burger Bar (which does not have a sweeping dessert selection), then head to Plan B. Sugar-seekers can satisfy their sweet tooth cravings with carrot cake with raisins, nuts and cream cheese frosting or even try the yummy and crunchy, stick-to-your-gums almond toffee bar.

Entertainment
Publika routinely organises events to draw in a crowd or even to raise awareness on certain issues like Publika Earth Hour on 31st March 2012, when the mall has a variety of booths set up at The Square encouraging visitors to adopt greener lifestyle habits.
Additionally, on the second and fourth Saturday of every month (from 17:30 onwards) The Square is transformed into a fun-filled area with the Publika Drum Circle, a song and dance event arranged by the KL Street Drummers: visitors are invited to bring their own instrument and beat out a tune with others (call +603 6211 7877 for more information).
