  • Suria KLCC Shopping Mall in KL

Six-storey shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur

Suria KLCC shopping centre is an imposing six-storey building at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur city centre. Created in 1999, it was soon the talk of the town because it introduced a new level of style to the city with its wide array of haute couture stores.

Likened to Manhattan’s Barney’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, the mall is popular not only for its right-on-the-money location and upscale stores, but also because it has tourist attractions such as Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains, an oceanarium and science discovery centre respectively, targeted at kids. Besides that, the mall is home to the Dewan Filharmonik Orkestra (Malaysia’s first concert hall) and the Petronas Art Gallery

Then there is the fact that it is so close to KLCC Park and the KL Convention Centre: and with a light rail transit (LRT) station set adjacent to the building, the mall is easy to reach.

Despite its modern design, Suria KLCC features little touches reminiscent of classic European malls, including plenty of greenery, white geometric-patterned marble floors, with exposed glass panels that let in natural light. Whilst some stores have high ceilings and huge arches along with impressive columns, others have low ceilings and no arches but plenty of their own stylish charm.

Suria KLCC is divided into three sections: Ampang Mall, Park Mall and the new Ramlee Mall.

With great options for upmarket shopping, anchor tenants at Suria KLCC include major department stores such as a five-storey Isetan, Parkson Grand and Marks & Spencer. Additionally there is a Cold Storage Supermarket and a 12-screen movie theatre (the biggest Tanjong Golden Village outlet in the country).

Within the anchor department stores are outlets for luxury labels and fashion houses. Isetan hosts more upscale brands such as Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren, while locally incorporated international retailer Parkson Grand has a more down-to-earth collection of mid-range stores such as Pierre Cardin, Sisley, Timberland and United Colours of Benetton.

    Brands at Suria KLCC

This is not your average neighbourhood mall – Suria KLCC houses over 320 high-end local and international retailers. Well-known brands available at the mall include Balenciaga, Banana Republic, Coach, DKNY, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and Versace.

The Concourse Level is where you will find banks, local restaurants, fast food chains and supermarkets: the Ground and First Floors house a variety of high end designer stores, while the Second Floor has an array of local boutiques. The Third Floor has stores that target a teenage demographic and the Fourth Floor has a variety of restaurants for those who do not want to hit the food courts.

At the end of the south side of Suria KLCC is the newest extension to the mall, Ramlee Mall, where you can find 30 high-end specialty stores such as Bvalgari, Cartier, Chanel, Cole Haan, Tiffany & Co. and Versace.

A bridge on the Concourse Level leads to Aquaria KLCC and Traders Hotel, while a connection at the other end links the mall to the KLCC LRT station.

Outside Suria KLCC is just as interesting as its interior – buskers set up shop with their guitars, harmonicas and tambourines: people sit on the steps eating street food, school kids gather for excursions to the Petronas Twin Towers and backpackers smile for the cameras.

Suria KLCC is most easily accessible via light rail transit, as the Rapid KL train station is located within the mall. Using the Kelana Jaya line, simply alight at the KLCC stop and follow the signage to access the mall. Alternatively, if you plan on driving to Suria KLCC, you can use three major roads to reach it: Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee and Jalan Kia Peng.
