Five Great Clubs in KL

Five great nightclubs in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur may not yet have a reputation like Ibiza and Rio de Janeiro, but we reckon its up and coming scene is one of the best for a great party here in Asia. Here, we have handpicked five of the best clubs in the city if you’re keen on shimmying next to the locals and getting to know Kuala Lumpur a little bit better.

1. Zouk Kuala Lumpur

If you have only one night to party in KL, hit Zouk. One of the premier nightspots in the city, Zouk encompasses six dynamically different themed rooms (namely Aristo & Rooftop Garden, Barsonic, Main Room, Phuture, Terrace Bar and Velvet Underground), and with frequent appearances from international heavyweights such as Above & Beyond and DJ Tiesto, it’s no wonder that Zouk is still a favourite among KL-lites even after nine years of existence. Tuesdays are ‘Ghetto Heaven’ nights featuring selections of only the best hip hop and R&B grooves, and Wednesdays are Mambo Jambo parties, taking you back to the 80s with hits from the era, so strut your best stuff and dance the night away! 2. Frangipani

Frangipani is an institution in Kuala Lumpur, featuring an immaculate fine-dining experience on the ground floor and a posh nightclub upstairs. Known as one of the earliest LGBT-friendly spots in the city, Frangipani is regarded as one of the places to go for a great night out if you’re looking for somewhere upmarket to let your hair down. The recent renovation sees the bar area sporting a much classier look – heavy on mirrors and stainless steel pillars – giving the place a much-needed edge, so give Frangipani a go when you’re in town. 3. The Butter Factory

Singapore’s favourite partying spot has landed in KL, and it is set to be one of the places to be seen and heard in the city. Featuring an open format of music (meaning, they play just about anything and everything) and interactive clubbing experience by mashing mixes together with video feeds, The Butter Factory definitely offers a night to remember, even for the most discerning party goer. Unique themed nights such as Tuesday’s ‘GAJA’, playing latest K-pop hits, and EDM-frenzy ‘Butterfly’ on Saturdays promises nothing but fun, just make sure to keep an open mind and enjoy the music!

Opening Hours: 22:00 – 03:00
Address: 1, Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +6 03 2141 9998

4. Club Neverland

Taking over the spot once held by the short-lived Dragonfly Club, Club Neverland is one of the newest kids on the partying block, but of course it’s all the more eager to add its bit to the exciting KL nightlife scene. Sporting a sleek neon-lit entrance and impressive 3-D Projection Mapping show for all of its performances, Club Neverland has seen big names such as Steve Aoki gracing its stage, and keeps the excitement going with regular promotions on bottles and events. We recommend its popular 5riday Party nights – it promises a wild night out, with resident performances and special live stage shows up till late.

Opening Hours: 21:00 – 03:00
Address: 1, Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +6 012 621 8311

5. @Live

For a taste of East Asian music, head on down to @Live (pronounced ‘Alive’ or ‘At Live’) at Federal Arcade, behind The Federal Hotel in Jalan Bukit Bintang. Dubbing themselves as a ‘live music club’, @Live features regular spins by its DJs, and live performances from its resident singers and dancers. Music is predominantly Cantopop or Korean pop, and with interiors taking inspirations from the quintessentially-Japan izakayas, you’ll feel like as if you’ve just been transported to the middle of Tokyo or Hong Kong, with, of course, a drink in your hand.

Opening Hours: 17:00 – 03:00
Address: Federal Arcade, Annex Federal Hotel, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +6 03 2142 3072
