‘Acme’ is Greek for ‘the best’, and upon opening the door of this chic yet casual eatery, the concept is apparent, from the menu to the décor. Stepping into Acme Bar & Coffee is like going into a hip New York City loft – with clean steel lines, comfy sofas, plush cushions and floor-to-ceiling glass walls letting natural light in; all this is enhanced by soft background jazz music.
Winner of the Best New Restaurant in the Time Out KL Food Awards 2012, Acme promises only the best ingredients, and a bite of any of their offerings proves it is high quality. There are seasonal items on the menu but there’s classic fare, too, that keeps their returning customers coming back for more. For some Asian flavour, try out the popular salt egg yolk chicken strips served in a Staub pan all warm and fresh; and sambal hebi aglio olio spaghetti, an interesting take of the old pasta dish with a dash of spiciness, thanks to the sambal.
The extensive breakfast menu deserves a mention too, starting from 09:30 all the way to 17:00 (hurrah for late risers!). We recommend the stellar salt beef eggs Benedict, but there is also delicious fruit yoghurt for those who would like a healthier option. Wash it down with any of their coffees, and you’ll have a great start to your day.
Desserts score high on our list too, with a one-of-a-kind jackfruit cake being the star. Moist, flavoursome, yet not too overpowering, the cake is a bestseller and is sometimes sold out. If you still have room after the cake, snuggle up with their light-as-air Pavlova – it lives up to its name, with just enough tanginess from the fresh berries on top of the meringue.

Foods aside, Acme puts plenty of variety into their drinks list as well. Ranging from detox juices such as combinations of apple, carrot, celery and ginger to gourmet Tea Forte teas, thirst quenchers here are a treat on its own. Wines get a bit of attention too; a selection of favourites is divided into six categories – aromatic, crisp, rich, fruity, smooth or powerful, so you can choose effortlessly according to your mood and preferences.
Acme occupies the ground floor of The Troika, the affluent commercial-cum-residential building situated within a stone throw away from KLCC. The easiest way to get to the café is by crossing the KLCC Park to get to The Troika from the twin towers, or stop at the Ampang Park LRT and it shouldn’t take more than a ten-minute walk.
Opening Hours: Monday – Thursday 11:00 – 24:00; Friday 11:00 – 01:00; Saturday 09:30 – 01:00; Sunday 09:30 – 24:00
