Harrods is an instantly recognisable brand often associated with luxury and the finer things in life. The brand first came to Kuala Lumpur in 2009, with the opening of Harrods World Signature Shop and Tea Salon, on the second floor of Suria KLCC: divided into two sections, the retail store and restaurant has a similar classic interior to the famous UK’s Knightsbridge branch.
Then, at the beginning of 2013, the street-level Harrods Cafe opened to match the restaurant upstairs. Featuring the same distinctive terracotta façade, with dark-green awnings and a sunlit interior, it is the place to head to for a laidback, English-style meal. Holding court at Harrods Cafe are the display cabinets stocking rows upon rows of pastel-coloured cakes and macaroons and piping hot pastries, with all manner of boxes stacked neatly behind the counter ready to hold take-home treats.

Located on the first floor of Suria KLCC (beside Isetan), it is hard not to be impressed with the imposing grandeur of this London institution. The al fresco dining stretch outside Harrods Cafe is surrounded by a white picket fence, giving it an English country garden vibe. Inside, the cafe largely stays true to the Harrods’s signature interior design style with lots of marble fixtures, velvet-covered rattan chairs and bay windows, and the subtle glitz is complemented by the super friendly service.
If you are keen on seeing an extra-large version of the iconic green-suited Harrods teddy bear, we suggest you make a stop upstairs before your meal to grab a photo; don’t leave without a must-have Harrods teddy!

The menu at Harrods Cafe is a mix of sandwiches, cakes and pastries: taste wise, the food is quality, with each dish carefully presented. Desserts (ranging in price from RM8-RM25) are their strong suit but main courses also make a trip here worthwhile.
We are especially big fans of the Harrods beef burger – fresh, juicy meat patty topped with sour gherkins, tomato slices, fried egg, lettuce and lots of cheddar cheese, sandwiched between perfectly grilled buns and served with a side of chunky-style potato chips. Another star-worthy main is poultry meatloaf, pan seared and baked to perfection, topped with a fried egg and served with creamy mashed potatoes. Finish off your meal with strawberry cheesecake – smooth and rich, it is the perfect way to indulge.
