Jarrod & Rawlins is a restaurant in Bangsar with a well-deserved and glowing reputation for its British pub food. There are three branches in Kuala Lumpur – in Ampang, Sri Hartamas and Bangsar. The restaurant pulls in a steady crowd not only for its good food and extensive drinks selection but because the service makes you feel like you are enjoying a bite to eat at a friend’s home.
Voted Best Pub Grub in 2010 and 2011, and nominated Best for Meat in the Time Out KL Food Awards 2012, the restaurant is an institution on KL’s food scene, with a lot of people visiting to try (and take away) the in-house pork, chicken, beef and lamb sausages.

Breakfast
The food here is the best of its kind and breakfast is particularly popular. The only other restaurant that comes to mind when it comes to comparisons is Elcerdo along Changkat Bukit Bintang. There is so much meat available in all varieties, and prepared in so many different ways, that you will be spoilt for choice.
We tried the house special – J & R’s Breakfast, a combo of rich and flavourful pork sausage and bacon rashers, mushrooms, eggs, grilled tomatoes and two slices of homemade toast. It turned out to be one of the best breakfasts we have had in KL, with the bacon crispy and savoury, and eggs cooked perfectly (sunny-side up just the way we like them).

Lunch, Dinner & Sunday Roast
Breakfast is not the only meal that Jarrod & Rawlins does well – the kitchen also offers a good selection of western specialties such as burgers and pork chops. The beef burger is particularly good – the quality of the meat is evident and the burger is just so tender, juicy and flavourful.
We recommend you visit at the end of the week when Jarrod & Rawlins does a Sunday roast. You will get a choice of beef, chicken, lamb or pork drizzled with homemade gravy. Served with a side of roast potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding – with a cold Heineken, it is the perfect way to cap the weekend.

Drinks, Décor & Deli
Their drinks selection is typical of a British pub with lots of beer choices available (think Guinness, Tiger, Strongbow and Heineken), as well as a wide range of spirits and cocktails. We particularly liked the spicy Bloody Mary that went extremely well with our big breakfast selection.
A great place for families and groups of friends, the décor at all three Jarrod & Rawlins outlets’ is warm and inviting. The Bangsar venue has sage-green walls with black-and-white photos, comfy brown leather booths, dark wood tables and chairs and large mirrors – all in all, it looks like an upscale English tavern.
Besides eating in at the restaurant, customers can purchase take-away sausages, bacon, kebabs, pies, and various other savoury specialities from the restaurant’s in-house deli.
