Movie Animation Park Studios Malaysia

Theme Park in Ipoh

Movie Animation Park Studios Malaysia is the state’s second theme park after Sunway’s Lost World of Tambun. A two-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, it is located in Ipoh, a historical town in Perak that’s known for its timeless charm, limestone caves, Buddhist shrines and hot springs.

Spanning over 210,000 square metres, visitors can find about 40 attractions and rides that are divided into six movie-themed zones. The colourful theme park features familiar characters and settings from Hollywood blockbusters, such as The Smurfs, Megamind, Casper and Mr. Peabody & Sherman, as well as local animation BoBoiBoy.

Thrill-seekers can watch high-speed chases and high-risk stunts at the 2,000-seat Stunt Legend Arena, or ride the Megamind Megadrop; a drop tower over 20 floors in height. There are also two indoor rollercoaster rides inspired by The Croods and Casper the Friendly Ghost.

The first of its kind in Asia, Movie Animation Park Studios Malaysia’s key attraction is The Smurfs Theatre. It hosts an interactive animated showcase called Papa Smurf’s Rainbow Spell, where visitors can explore Papa Smurf’s laboratory and help him cast magical spells throughout the show. Meanwhile, younger children can enjoy various rides and slides at The Smurfs Playland.

Movie-themed cafeterias and restaurants are plentiful here, and you can enjoy a variety of local and international fare at reasonable prices. Open daily, tickets to Movie Animation Park Studios Malaysia are priced at RM120 per person and give you unlimited access to all rides for the day. If you’re Malaysian, the entrance fees is RM114.
