  • Opium Kuala Lumpur

Oriental-themed Bar & Restaurant in Changkat Bukit Bintang

    0

Opium KL is well-recognised by late night revellers as one of the most stylish resto-bars in Changkat Bukit Bintang.Situated less than a 10-minute walk from Bukit Bintang Monorail Station, this establishment serves a wide range of modernised Oriental fare and uniquely-named signature cocktails.

Interior-wise, Opium KL exudes a glamorous 1930s vibe with age-old artefacts adorning the entire establishment, including an intricate opium bed in the Rose Room, abrass lion head door knocker, antiqueopium pipes, stained glass windows, and rows of Chinese wine pots displayed vividly in the communal area. While the design of Opium Bar and Restaurant is contrived, it is also so well executed that the scene is just about as stylish as you can get in this popular nightlife area in downtown KL.

  • Standing out from the hordes of western, European and Spanish eateries in Changkat Bukit Bintang, Opium KL’s food menu is an eclectic mix of fusion, local and Asian delicacies. Served with a choice of steamed lotus leaf buns or poppy seed rice, the Angus beef rendang (RM38)is well-seasoned with coconut, turmeric leaves and kaffir lime – easily one of the highlights of the evening.

We also highly recommend the Opium Burger (RM42), which consists of a 250g Angus beef patty, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, jalapeno, coconut lemongrass sauce, and French fries. There are also plenty of snack options available in Opium KL, including cheese samosas, chicken or beef satay, and pork-free dim sum selections.

Beautifully presented in charming ceramic bowls and glasses, Opium KL’s extensive beverage menu consists of single malt whiskies, Chinese rice wines, beers, spirits, and house wines, as well as uniquely-named signature and classic cocktails. Definite must-tries include the Peking Man (vodka, puer tea, longan, lime juice, egg white, and orange bitters), Shanghailander (whisky, peated puree, black tea syrup, lemon juice, and egg white), and Forbidden City (rum, grand Marnier, lime juice, orange juice, and five-spiced syrup).

Well-patronised for its exquisite and tasteful decor, prompt service, as well as unique food-and-beverage menu, Opium KL is also an ideal option for diners who want to enjoy a more stylish and comfortable dining ambience in the often overcrowded Changkat Bukit Bintang.
