PAMPAS Grill & Bar in Changkat Bukit Bintang is an award-winning restobar that’s well-patronised for its authentic Argentinean fare and extensive wine list. Practically unique alongside Kuala Lumpur’s bevy of busy nightclubs and lively Irish pubs, this two-storey establishment exudes a sophisticated yet casual ambience, making it an ideal venue for intimate dinners and family get-togethers.
Situated next to Baan 26 Restaurant, the fully air-conditioned interior of PAMPAS Grill & Bar is spacious and comfortable, complete with dartboards, a pool table and plenty of colourful and modern abstract paintings adorning the walls. Furnished with black cushioned seats and white clothed tables, seating arrangements are a decent distance from each other to ensure an intimate atmosphere. There’s also a private function room upstairs and an al fresco dining area for those who prefer a livelier setting.
Accessible within an eight-minute walk from the Bukit Bintang monorail station, PAMPAS serves an extensive selection of authentic South American delicacies, with starters ranging from homemade crab cakes and gambas (tiger prawns sautéed with garlic, red chilli, sweet basil, salad and lemon wedges) to beef and smoked salmon Carpaccio.
For mains, a wide range of grilled steaks, pastas, seafood, and burgers are available. Meat lovers will take delight in the grass-fed grilled beef rib eye (RM58 for 250gm and RM78 for 350gm) served with sautéed spinach, baby potatoes, and creamy mushroom sauce. Prepared medium rare, we love how the succulent meat is perfectly herbed to complement its natural flavours.
Great for sharing, the PAMPAS seafood platter (RM43) consists of a generous helping of tiger prawns, scallops, mussels, smoked salmon, and calamari rings served with a side of salad, lemon wedges, and tartar sauce.
Drinks-wise, the restobar’s alcoholic offerings consist of cocktails, single malt whiskies, premium vodkas, beers, and quality wines imported from Europe, South America and Africa. A wide range of fruit juices, coffees and teas are also available.
It can be a slight challenge to find your way to PAMPAS Grill & Baras the narrow lanes along the ever-bustling Changkat Bukit Bintang can get rather overcrowded, so we highly advise heading there before 21:00, especially during the weekend. From the Bukit Bintang station, head north along Jalan Ismail, turn left onto Jalan Berangan and PAMPAS Grill & Bar is located directly opposite Frangipani Restaurant & Bar.
