Rougeur Restaurant and Bar, situated along Jalan Tun Razak, is a trendy dining and event venue that serves a wide range of Western, Asian and fusion delicacies as well as signature cocktails and imported wines. Situated within a 10-minute walk from Suria KLCC Shopping Centre, it’s a great place for many occasions, from after-work drinks and casual gatherings to intimate dinners and lively parties.
The spacious establishment is divided into three dining halls - a massive event venue with a seating capacity of 500 people, a trendy laidback lounge with an open bar, and a cosy dining venue that seats around 80 people. The interior resembles an industrial warehouse, complete with exposed ceilings and rustic fixtures, while cushioned wooden seats and stools in red and black complete the ensemble.
Rougeur’s food menu leans heavily towards western and Asian fare, with a selection of unique fusion offerings. Starters include bruchetta (RM12), smoked salmon with tomato salsa (RM18), and prawn salad (RM28), though our favourite dish is the cream of pumpkin (RM18), a savoury homemade butternut pumpkin soup served with garlic toast.
Our first main of the evening is the grilled rib eye and scallops, prepared medium-rare to enhance its natural flavours. Perfect for light eaters, it’s a delectably meaty dish with a healthy side of caramelised onions, grilled vegetables, and red capsicum puree. Highly recommended for spice lovers are Rougeur’s lamb varuval, which consists of slow-cooked lamb cubes with local Indian spices, coriander leaves and a side of papadum (thin disc-shaped flour crackers), and the spicy cream tiger prawns, made with generous amounts bird’s eye chillies, lemongrass, tamarind juice, and turmeric.
Drinks-wise, Rougeur serves a satisfying range of whiskies, beers and imported wines, though its speciality lies within their creative cocktails and non-alcoholic thirst-quenchers. Diners with a sweet tooth will delight in the basil strawberry sparkling (RM11), a non-alcoholic drink with loads of strawberry mix, agave syrup and lemonade. Meanwhile, the Hibiscus Robusta tea (RM11) is a unique blend of black tea, hibiscus syrup, passion syrup, lime juice, and pineapple juice, resulting in a tropical and refreshing taste.
For something stronger, their Petite cocktail (RM28) is a refreshingly sweet concoction of Malibu, almond syrup, mango puree, and pineapple juice, served with biscotti, while their Hombre Paloma (RM28) is an indulgent mix of white wine, vodka, cucumber syrup, blood orange, triple sec, with a splash of lemonade.
