The 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Kuala Lumpur takes place between 19th and 30th August, when you can catch a variety of sporting events in Kuala Lumpur. Locally branded as KL2017, this is the sixth time Malaysia has hosted this biennial event since 2001, which also coincides with the country’s Independence Day (Merdeka) on 31st August.
The SEA Games KL2017 opening and closing ceremonies are held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, with tickets priced at RM20 and RM10 respectively. Expect vibrant parades, live music, and fun-filled activities throughout both events. Some of the countries that are competing in the SEA Games include Singapore, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. In August, the Torch Run will be completing the last few legs of its journey by going through Selangor from 31st July until 5th August, and Putrajaya from 6th to 12th August, and ending in Kuala Lumpur, the host city.
This year's edition of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games will see 39 sports categories, 19 of which require paid tickets. Entrance fees cost between RM10 and RM20, depending on the sporting event, such as aquatics (diving, swimming, synchronised and water polo), taekwondo, pencak silat, futsal, netball, rugby, cycling badminton, gymnastics, karate, billiard, snooker, muay, and football.
