Tanzini Upper Deck restaurant certainly has a magical feel to it, whether that is because of its location on the 29th floor of G Tower Hotel in Kuala Lumpur along Jalan Tun Razak, provides diners with gorgeous views of the twinkling city centre, or the mirrored ceiling that conveys a supreme sense of space and, frankly, a slight case of vertigo.
It could also be down to the restaurant’s sumptuous interior design – think, nouveau fairy light chandeliers, polished golden wood floors, heavy gold brocade ceiling-to-floor curtains, plush burnt orange carpeting and burnished gold upholstered furniture. Whatever the case, it all contributes to create a restaurant that is unquestionably perfect for a romantic night out.

The kitchen at Tanzini Upper Deck puts out simply sensational modern European dishes, and we really found it difficult to pick out our favourite. We start out our meal chatting away with senior chef Eugene, who talks about the kitchen’s seasonal menu that changes every fortnight.
For starters, their baby lobster tail salad, as well as the delightful sweet carpaccio scallop with creamy crab roe emulsion both come elegantly presented and flavourful enough to convince anyone that the food at Tanzini Upper Deck is in a class of its own.
Moving on to the mains, we sample the 28-day home aged striploin, with shallot sponge cake, mint verde and orange gnocchi on the side – the beef is done perfectly with crackling skin over pink, tender meat on the inside. However, it is the red label turbot that blows us away – a fillet of fish with locally flavoured custard, asparagus, baby carrot leaves salsa and puffed skins, this flavourful, textured dish is impressive.
Since we had selected the RM155 four-course dinner set, we also had dessert, a reinterpretation of Concorde cake (layers of caramelised white chocolate, with sides of raspberry gel and green tea meringue to contrast its sweetness) – a sweetly satisfying end to our meal.

Tanzini Upper Deck
Set on the 29th floor of G Tower Hotel along Jalan Tun Razak, it is fairly easy to get to Tanzini Upper Deck: you can take the Star line LRT to the Ampang Park station - from there, it is only a three-minute walk to G Tower Hotel. Take the elevator up to the 28th floor of the hotel, walk into Tanzini (Tanzini Upper Deck’s sister all-day restaurant), and walk up one flight of stairs to Tanzini Upper Deck.
We do recommend you make reservations at least one week in advance as the restaurant has limited seating.
