The Butter Factory Kuala Lumpur

Hottest nightclub in Kuala Lumpur

NOTICE: The Butter Factory is now closed for business.

A local celebrity-favourite, The Butter Factory is the epitome of warehouse cool. Currently one of the city’s best-known clubbing venues, the 10,000sqft Singapore-import is located along Jalan Kia Peng and offers an tangibly eclectic clubbing experience over two fun floors, with a glitzy lounge space on the first floor and a serious-beat basement below.

Pub, club and everything in between, its sprawling dance floor is where it’s all happening. We recommend you get a hold of one of The Butter Factory’s VIP ‘Buttered Life’ passes, which will allow you to bring along three guests free of charge – it’s definitely a worthwhile investment. Alternatively, arrive early between 21:00 – 22:00 to gain free entry.

Opened in 2012, from the outside The Butter Factory looks like a mega-sized warehouse – inside the layout is pretty simple, comprising a large square terrace and an even larger sunken bar area, where action is. Downstairs, despite soaring ceilings the place looks like an intimate, jam-packed basement. Here is also where you will find the stage, DJ console and the oversize dance floor.

Meanwhile, if you can’t take the thumping pace in the main arena, why not retire to the more sedate, glittery upstairs lounge? Its interior design of shiny gold and silver faux-leather Chesterfield sofas, gild mirrors, ornate chandeliers, and gleaming black marble floors lends a glamourous touch, making it look like it would fit in perfectly with Manhattan’s list of high-level nightclubs. Take note that sometimes the lounge is fenced off for celebrity guests.

The Butter Factory’s ‘open music format’ is eclectic for sure, with its diverse tunes proving to be a real good-vibes mix that should suit any sophisticated clubber. Resident DJs skilfully mix R&B and hip hop with top of the charts, K-pop tunes, and electro beats, and on occasion you will even hear the finest soul, house, disco and techno sounds from a glittering array of big name DJs. A world-class sound system and a fantastic display of neon lights that play throughout the place create an appealingly funky clubbing experience.

You will find the usual list of drinks at The Butter Factory with the bar also catering to beer drinkers with attractive draught choices, as well as by-the-bottle spirits and an extensive collection of cocktails. Popular for its themed party nights, the place is usually packed to bursting on Fridays and weekends with a cheerful mix of local trendy young things and weekend tourists.
