The Humble Pie Co. at Petaling Jaya is a full-fledged artisanal café that serves a satisfying range of Italian delicacies. Its speciality however, lies within its signature pies and cakes that are freshly-made using only the highest quality of fruits. The cafe’s bright orange-hued exterior is attention-grabbing with several mismatched wooden furnishings that are great al fresco seating options during breezy evenings. Meanwhile, the air-conditioned indoor section is kept simple with unique whisk-shaped light fixtures and cosy seating arrangements.
This cool coffee shop is located just a few rows away from the ever-popular Kanna Curry House (a South Indian eatery that’s well-patronised for its award-winning banana leaf rice) within Section 17’s suburban setting.
The Humble Pie Co.’s savoury dishes are very well-executed in terms of presentation, portions and flavours, as proven by its wholesome roast chicken meal in Japanese potato salad, roasted onion, and homemade gravy (RM22), cottage pie with Waldorf salad and garlic bread (RM22), and chicken bites (RM10).
Made with homemade pesto sauce and shredded cheese, the pesto rigatoni (RM15) is one of our favourites thanks to its perfect blend of olive oil, pine nuts, and basil. Seafood lovers will love the spicy prawn olio spaghetti (RM26), a distinctively strong and spicy dish with plenty deliciously fresh tiger prawns.
For dessert, The Humble Pie Co. lives up to its name with its fast-selling pies that are simply irresistible. Its signature 3.5-inch banoffee pie (RM13) is a delightful combination of ripe banana chunks soaked in toffee sauce and light vanilla whipped cream atop a crumbly and buttery biscuit base, with a generous dusting of coffee powder. Also highly sought after is the Musang King pie (RM15), where durian lovers can sink their teeth in deliciously creamy durian flesh with whipped cream on top of a digestive cookie base.
The Humble Pie Co. also serves a wide range of home baked cakes, namely the elderberry berries chiffon cake (RM13.50) and chocolate peanut butter cake (RM15.50). The former is a fluffy and subtle ensemble with lots of strawberries, elderberries, and vanilla frostings while the latter is a sinfully sweet and salty combo of peanut butter and dark chocolate – perfect for afternoon tea sessions.
Complementing its extensive food and dessert menu, diners can enjoy unique teas and coffees such as the lemongrass pome-berry tea (RM9) and carapple latte (RM11) as well as the usual cafe offerings including cappuccino, Americano, mocha, and hot chocolate.
With a winning combination of sumptuous homemade pies, wholesome pastas and refreshing teas and aromatic coffees in a bright and cheerful ambience, The Humble Pie Co. is set out to be one of the most promising dessert cafes in Petaling Jaya.
Accessible within a 20-minute drive from KL Sentral Station, The Humble Pie Co. at Petaling Jaya is especially busy during the weekends, so make sure you head there early due to limited parking spaces in the Section 17 neighbourhood.
