Nightclub with a pool in Jalan Ampang

The Pool is a nightclub located along Jalan Ampang with a lovely open-air ambiance. Its biggest draw is its eponymous swimming pool which acts as a centrepiece at the club: above the water is a glass runway that is often used for fashion shows and product launches.

It looks a lot like a 1960s Palm Springs resort. The interior design is a mix of elegance and laidback charm with the focus is mainly on the swimming pool. There are two sitting areas: on one side of the pool is the VIP section, which has white ‘leather’ furniture on fake green grass and a barbecue pit. Meanwhile, on the other side are high tables and chairs on dark wooden boarding and pendant lighting, making it feel like a beachside bar. Between these two seating zones, the vibe fluctuates between super exclusive and very relaxed on different nights.

Sister bar to The Hill in Damansara Heights, The Pool regularly hosts themed nights such as Thursday Model’s Night and Sunday Pool Party (with a bikini fashion show!) The al fresco concept lends to its breezy atmosphere and when the pool is lit up at night, the place has a sexy feel to it. If the weather’s warm, dive into the swimming pool – The Pool encourages guests to do so and offers a free shot of tequila if you do!

Just beside the ‘beach’ bar seating area is an indoor club with a dance floor and comfy lounge area; music played is current Top 40 hits, hip-hop and R&B tunes.

Fancy some food? The menu is western and snacks like the crispy, buttery calamari coated with salted egg and gnocchi with chicken sausage in cream sauce are real crowd pleasers. Standouts in the mains section include the crunchy beer battered fish & chips and the black monster burger (tender, juicy beef topped with spicy and creamy black pepper and mushroom sauce).

But it is the cocktails that are the real crowd-pleasers here: our favourites include the velvety, sweet Nutella martini – a mix of vodka, Nutella chocolate, milk and white Curacao – and the skittles bomb (Cointreau, Red Bull and skittles). Or try the award-winning Malacca Loda: a blend of Angostura 1919 rum, Malibu, aromatic and orange bitters, kaya (coconut jam) and fresh coconut water.
