TWG Tea Salon and Boutique in Kuala Lumpur

Exclusive tea salon in Pavilion Shopping Mall

There is a place for tea connoisseurs in Kuala Lumpur, right in the middle of the luxury mall Pavilion KL. TWG Tea Salon and Boutique is on a mission to spread the art of tea drinking to the masses – and it’s doing it in style.

The golden hues of the décor exudes a glamourous aura, but stepping inside this small salon will remind you of the olden days of British tea trading in Southeast Asia – big yellow tins containing their specially-blended loose leaf teas line the shelves and as you enter the dining area, you’ll notice that it is elegantly decorated with classic wooden rattan chairs and white tablecloths.

The choice of teas here is amazing – with a staggering amount of over 800 teas to choose from, so there is something (or maybe more!) for everyone. With names like Pink Flamingo (green tea with a blend of hibiscus) and Eternal Summer (red herbal tea), it will certainly pique one’s curiosity, and as descriptions of the teas are not included in the list, ask for details and recommendations from any of their servers and they will be happy to help you make a decision. Brewed teas are served in 18K gold-plated teapots with white porcelain wide cups and saucers; enough create a sense of exclusivity for sippers.

Tea is a ubiquitous ingredient in all of their food offerings, too, and TWG has creatively blended it into regular dishes without losing their original taste. Cuisines such as lasagna and salmon fillet get an extra zing with their Moroccan tea-infused tomato and basil sauce and green tea oil respectively, while the fries served with the Wagyu burger gets peppered with 1837 green tea powder, so there is a hint of tea in every bite.

If you’re here in the afternoon, choose any of their tea sets. The Fortune tea set comes with sandwiches, a choice of either two freshly baked scones or muffins with TWG tea jelly and whipped cream or one patisserie from their trolley, and a choice of three tea-infused macaroons, along with your choice of tea. Their dessert options also extend to cakes and tea-infused chocolates, so make sure to give this a try if you still have room after the tea set.

This popular tea salon is usually packed from lunchtime onwards, so be sure to come early if you want a taste of their exquisite offerings. Another alternative is to buy any from their dizzying array of packed teas – you can choose to either buy loose leaf teas packed fresh for you, or pick any of the pre-packaged tea bags in their accompanying boxes that make a great gift for any occasion. The macaroons are available in takeaway packages, too, if you require something sweet to accompany the teas you just bought.
