Nestled between a contrasting mix of sky-high condominiums and antiquated shophouses along Jalan Galloway, VCR Café Kuala Lumpur is well-frequented by discerning coffee drinkers and brunch lovers for its satisfying range of coffee from single-origin beans and unique blends.
Remodelled from a corner-lot building, VCR Café is easily recognised for its all-black exterior (and its resident calico cat sleeping by the entrance) though it retains much of its original charm and old-world feel with rustic fixtures, wood and brick elements, high ceiling and warm lighting. A flight of stairs by the counter leads up to an airy, breezy, rattan-chaired setup on the first floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a nice view of the quiet KL neighbourhood.

VCR Café’s perfectly brewed coffee (using Coffex and Artisan beans) is definitely its star attraction, offering a variety of popular styles such as long black, cappuccino, and flat white. Highly recommended is its brew of Tanzanian Karatu coffee beans - the body is well-balanced with a pleasant lingering flavour. VCR Café also offers hot chocolate that’s made with quality Valrhona cocoa.

Guests can also complement their choice of caffeine with delicious homemade cakes and pastries, particularly The King Cake (RM12), an indulgent banana cake layered with peanut butter frosting, banana slices and chocolate. Available for brunch during weekends and public holidays, VCR Café serves a limited range of substantial delicacies. The French toast (RM18) is a must-try for those with a sweet tooth, consisting of berries compote, mocha sauce, chocolate biscuit crumble, pumpkin seed, and a scoop of espresso ice cream while the fluffy potato waffle (RM20) is a savoury delight of mushrooms, chervil, and perfectly poached eggs.

Situated within the Kuala Lumpur city centre, VCR Café is accessible within a 15-minute walk from the Hang Tuah monorail train station.
