Express Rail Link
KLCAT
or Kuala Lumpur City Air Terminal will serve as an extension of
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for the residents and
business community of the city and its suburbs.
With its prime location within the KL Sentral development, KL CAT
is modeled on the concept of an air terminal within a busy metropolis
- providing convenience of check-in and check-out services to airline
passengers.
It was designed to complement KLIA by the same celebrated architect,
DR Kisho Kurokawa
KL
CAT is offcially recognised as a city destination by International
Air Travel Association (IATA), with its XKL code for transfers and
baggage. It is supported by an intergrated rail transit system for
easy access,and its linked to KLIA through regular KLIA Express
high-speed rail services.
When completed in April 2002, KL CAT and KLIA Express will join
similar systems currently operating in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo,
Stockholm, Oslo and Milan.
KL CAT Check-In
Check-in at KL CAT if you are flying domestic or international
flights with the world's major airlines. This includes Malaysia
Airline. Please enquire from your airline if they are represented
at KL CAT. You can check-in up to two hours before your flight departure
time during the initial opening of KL CAT. This minimum check-in
time ensures you and your checked-in luggage can be comfortably
transfered to your flight at KLIA, and gives you time to shop and
browse. To enhance your travelling experience, the minimum check-in
time will be progressively reduced to 1 1/2 hours subsequetly. All
you need to have is a valid KLIA Express ticket to check-in at KL
CAT.You will be issued with flight boarding pass and luggage claim
tag (if you have checked-in baggage).
Luggage
Like the check-in at KLIA, your luggage is accepted at the check-in
desk, tagged to your destination and automatically transferred to
your flight at KLIA via KLIA Express. Every piece of luggage is
bar-coded for easy tracking within our entire system, and which
is integrated with KLIA baggage handling. Together with other security
features, we ensure your luggage remain safe and secure.
Boarding the train
Fast, reliable and comfortable, KLIA Express is the hassle-free
way to start or complete your air travel.
KLIA Express is a non-stop, high-speed rail service between KL
Sentral and KLIA. Departing every 15minutes (in future, 10 minutes)
from both terminals, the journey takes only 28 minutes. Seat reservation
is not required.
After checking in, proceed to the KLIA Express gate control (about
30 metres from the check-in desks) and insert your ticket into the
gate machine to enter the departure platform one level below. As
long as you have a valid KLIA Express ticket, you can ride with
us to KLIA even if you do not check in at KL CAT. You are advised
to allow 45 minutes for this journey in the event that you just
missed a departing train.
KLIA Ekspres' hours are from 05:00 am to 1:00 am the next day,
at both terminals. KL CAT's operation hours are subject to airlines'
requirements.
Immigration at KLIA
There is no exit gate control at KLIA to expedite your transfer.
Upon arrival at KLIA Terminal, located on the 1st level of KLIA
Main Terminal Building, proceed to the 5th level (i.e. KLIA Departure
Hall), and head straight for Immigration check and to your flight
boarding gate. You are advised to allow a minimum of 30 minutes
for this transfer.

KL CAT baggage check out
This is an advanced facility that enables your luggage to be
tagged from your city of origin to KL CAT - provided your check-in
luggage bears XKL code as your destination.
This modern-day convenience allows automatic transfer of baggage
at KLIA onto KLIA Express and consequently, onto KL CAT baggage
re-claim belts. Instead of being weighed down by heavy luggage,
you can be ensurd of a seamless transfer while boarding KLIA Express,
claiming your luggage only at KL CAT.
What if I choose not to use this service?
You can still claim your luggage and clear Customs at KLIA (as
in the current pratice), and ride on KLIA Express with your luggage
in tow. there are specially designed racks on board KLIA Express
for your luggage storage. Upon arrival at KL Sentral, proceed one
level up to KL CAT Arrival and head straight for the exit agtes
leading to teh public concourse. If you do not have a valid KLIA
Express ticket, you can still purchase it here to exit the gates.
KLIA Express
KLIA Express is designed with air travellers' needs in mind.
The non-stop journey between KL Sentral and KLIA is a fast 28 minutes.
KLIA Express departs from both terminals every 15 minutes, on the
hour and every 15 minutes, on teh hour and every quarter of an hour,
seven days a week.
KLIA Express' air-conditioned carriages are equipped with comfortable
contoured seats, washrooms, overhead racks for light luggage and
tiered racks for large luggage. Special wheelchair seat compartments
have been allocated on board for the disabled. Secured containers
are used to transport the check-in and check-out luggage.
Backed
by Siemen's technology, KLIA Express promises to be fast, reliable
and comfortable. Your safety is futher assured with fail-safe Automatic
Train Protection Syatem. Public commuters may also ride on KLIA
Express as long they have a valid KLIA Express ticket.
Ticketing & fare types
The standard KLIA Express ticket is for a single trip. Adult
fares are RM 35.00. Other ticket available are Stored Value for
the frrequent travellers and in the future, Smart Card.
You can purchase KLIA Express tickets through ticket vending machines
or at the ticket counters at both KL CAT and KLIA. Payment by credit
cards are also accepted. Tickets can also be purchased at hotels
and through appointed travel agencies at the time of flight bookings.
Transit
Being the nation's rail transportation hub, KL Sentral Station
serves as a transfer point for the major rail systems including
KLIA Express, KLIA Transit, KTM Komuter, PUTRA LRT and KLIA Monorail.Togetherwith
STAR LRT, they from the nation's first comprehensive rail network
called TRANSIT.
KL Sentral is also served by other transportation modes such as
city buses, hotel coaches and taxis.
KLIA Transit
KLIA Transit services designed specially for commuters and airport
personnel. It is scheduled to commence services in June 2002. It
makes 3 quick intermerdiate stops along key townsjips - Bandar Tasik
Selatan, Putrajaya (Cyberjaya) and Salak Tinggi.
KLIA Transit integrates with KTM Komuter and STAR LRT at Bandar
Tasik Selatan and with Putrajaya Monorail at Putrajaya's Western
Transport Terminal.
KLIA Transit departs every half-an-hour from KL Sentral and KLIA
Terminals. Total journey time is 36 minutes. Fares are based on
distance travelled. Tickets can be purchased throungh ticket vending
machines and ticket counters at the terminal stations.
KL Sentral
Supporting
the role of our KL City Air Terminal is KL Sentral. Strategically
located at the fringe of the Central Business District, it is poised
to become the nation's communication and transportation hub.
It is easily accessed via all major expressways within the Klang
Valley,and is at the heart of Kuala Lumpur's TRANSIT rail system.
KLIA Terminal
Both KLIA Express and KLIA Transit Terminal are located in the
public area of KLIA's Main Terminal Building, providing easy easy
access to both air passengers and the public. KLIA Transit terminal
is separate from that of KLIA Express, and both terminals are at
Level 1. |
